Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced that it will enter a four-car team in the 2023 WRC Safari Rally Kenya. The team will be led by Finland’s world champion Kalle Rovanperä, who will be driving the all-conquering Toyota GR Yaris R1 Hybrid car. Rovanperä will be joined by his teammate Elfyn Evans, as well as Takamoto Katsuta.
The Safari Rally is one of the most challenging and prestigious rallies on the WRC calendar. The rally is held in Kenya, and the roads are notoriously rough and unpredictable. This year’s rally will be held from June 23 to 26.
Toyota Gazoo Racing is the defending champion of the Safari Rally. The team won the rally in 2022 with Rovanperä. The team is confident of repeating their success in 2023.
The other teams that have announced their entries for the Safari Rally include Hyundai Motorsport, and M-Sport Ford,. The rally is expected to be a close contest between the top teams.
