Just fresh from Safari rally Kenya, Oliver Solberg jumps into his Volkswagen Polo GTi R5 alongside his co driver Edmondson Elliot to tackle a round on the ERC calendar.
The Royal Rally of Scandinavia runs as round five on the European Rally Championship that is slated for this weekend (7-9 July) in Sweden.
The Swede alongside his family revealed their interest to participate in the round a month back and later confirmed the speculations after the full entry list was published and surprisingly it featured the whole Solberg family.
Oliver is a son to a former “2003”World Rally Champion Peter Solberg who is to cruise a Citroen C4 on the home soil under the legends in the anticipated event.
Awesomely, other legends in the event are Pernilla Warfridsson, Oliver’s mom and Henning Solberg, Oliver’s uncle.Pernilla last competed in a rally in 2000 and expected to cruise a mitsubish Evo 6 that she last drove in “Network Q Rally of Great Britain” 23 years back.
Henning Solberg is Peter Solberg’s big brother that last featured competitively in 2019 driving a Skoda FabiaR5 powered by Toksport in WRC Turkey where he finished 15th overall.
Henning is to cruise a celica GT-Four ST205 that he last drove competitively in 1998.
Oliver Solberg might not be favorite for a win but his presence daunts the ERC title contenders,Hayden Paddon,Martin Sesks, and Mads Ostberg as he is on home soil and with all the experience he has gained in WRC, he remains a threat to the trio.
Hayden Paddon tops the championship standings with 113 points as we head to Sweden with Martin Sesks 30 points shy of him and Mads Ostberg 69 points adrift.
Basing on the previous events performance, Martin Sesks remains favorite for a win in Sweden but the summer conditions there highly favour Oliver who has nothing to lose.
