The 2019 IvoryCoast champion Maxime “Tino” Abondio will be switching to a lighter body car set to debut in Rallye Gagnoa this weekend.
Previously the champion has been driving a Mitsubishi Evo 9 which won him the 2019 championship co-driven by Hugo Miguel Lopes his longtime partner.
Abondio said the Mitsubishi mirage proto body kit was supposed to be in Ivory Coast by March, and he was supposed to debut it in Bandama rally but unfortunately, it landed in April though he managed to take on Bandama in the old Evo 9 and finished 2nd behind Gary chaynes.
Abondio said the kit will be installed with all Mitsubishi evolution 9 parts and Jean Luc Lefant an expert from GTi company is already in Abidjan to get the job done. About the performance of 2021 Abondio said “with the experience of 10 years with my brother Miguel, am sure we will crack jocks in the car and have fun but all in all we shall try to perform so we’re ready for the 32nd edition of Rallye Gagnoa”.
Same to Fredric Nobou too who also imported a Ford fiesta proto kit, which will run evolution x engine purchased from the same company. Nobou currently drives a Mitsubishi Evo x which he acquired from team Faul’gas in 2019.
Nobou is the founder of Team Fana where Abondio Maxime is a driver and they both believe the new cars will make their squad stronger. “We’re almost there and its this weekend of (16th April), we’re driving and we’re ready to go. we really expect a good performance if we won’t encounter any glitch.” said Nobou who will seat with Daniel Coulibaly.
Meanwhile still Nobou as the vice president of FISA told Hapasport that, the project Logan is ready to kick off with Rallye Gagnoa, and three drivers will show up for the event.
“Three of the Logan team will drive in Gagnoa, one all-girl crew and two of boys,” added Nobou.
The Logan project is initiated by FISA and SOCIDA a Renault car dealer sponsored by Bollore to promote Ivorian Motorsports and future champions.
