The KCB KISCOL Ramisi rally 2021 in Mombasa was indeed a test of man and machine on Saturday 18th September.
The Coast-held event was the 6th round of the Kenya national rally championship.
Baldev Chager co-driven by Ravi Soni under team Kabras sugar, scooped their first victory since they stepped into the VW Polo R5 after making a debut in Voi rally switching from the Mitsubishi Evo x in July.
The kabras sugar-powered team beat Carl flash Tundo and Jasmeet Chana who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively to victory, and kept the championship race tight and dream alive between Tundo and Chana.
Out of 20 crews that started the event, only seven crossed the last flying finish due to multiple breakdowns of cars.
Among the casualties were Karan Patel whose Ford fiesta R5 bowed out after breaking the suspension in stage 3.
Jeremy Wahome of the FIA young star project went off at a high speed, and crashed his Fiesta rally 3 damaging the chassis heavily, however, the crew escaped unhurt.
Eric Bengi, Macrae Kimathi and Nikhil Sachania all went out due to engine failures, Hamza Anwar nose dived his Evo and damaged the cooler, Piero Canobbio, Waita Nzioka, Kailesh Chouhan, Paras Pandya were all casualties among others besides Izar Mirzah and Amit Vaja who didn’t start.
