Rukaari Lake Mburo Mbarara rally 2020 ended on a high note, with some crews in argon some in ecstatic mood.
Duncan navigated by Musa Nsubuga in the Mitsubishi Evo x laughed last when they got a shocking win though hardly fought for it. The Evo x driver clocked 1:44.06 to bag his 3rd Mbarara win since 2014 and 2016. Fred Busuulwa and Omar Mayanja completed the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Duncan was trailing Ponsiano who was the rally leader by over 3 minutes in the last stage, only to bypass him [Ponsiano] had packed aside with a broken Shaft and his rally ended there as Duncan snatch the win.
The overnight rally leader Rajiv Ruparelia lost what would have been his first NRC win in his first Attempt on the second last stage after a simple roll.
The Polo lost one behind wheel and moved on three for 7km in the middle of the longest 47km stage, unfortunately, it couldn’t move further when it swerved off the track and broke the second suspension causing the VW polo loose total Stability.
Other contenders like Ronald ssebuguzi sponsored by shell in the Evo x and Hassan Alwi in the subaru N14 had retired in the morning section 4. Kateete Abdul also never saw overnight Parc fame.
Mubiru Duncan now will lead the championship table with 100 points, Busuulwa Fred at 80 and Omar Mayanja at 70 points.
