After a successful consultation between the East African region’s ASNs, it’s been concluded that effective from 2020 a motorsport championship will be organised with in the region and will be East African Rally Championship [EARC]
Championed by Federation of Motorsports clubs Uganda [FMU] , the championship was attempted in 2016 and wasn’t successful since Kenyan and Tanzanian competitors never showed interest/appeared in the trial event which was in Western Uganda dubbed “Gorillas in the Mist rally” 2016.
The championship which was buried in the late 90s is expected to be revived this year  starting in Kenya with Guru Nanak rally scheduled on 8th – 9th February as round 1. This will be followed by the calendar below
Kenya 8/9th Feb
Rwanda 16/17th may
Uganda 15/16th August
Tanzania 19/20th September
Burundi 17/18th October
Those are the five countries to host the event and the three crews which will collect maximum points will be crowned at the last event on the calendar which will be hosted by Burundi, note that these crews must be perticipants in this last event.
According to the press release signed by all five nations Motorsport bodies indicates that, “Points awarded will be ARC style [top 15]
“Regulations of the championship will be based on Kenyan NRC’s appendix A” publication will be made in case of any changes.
“Entry fees will be waived for foreign crews attending the specified events”
“Host nations may offer additional incentives for foreign participants at their discretion”
