KENYA Nairobi: Nearly 20 years when the world rally championship is missing on the African continent-The prestigious event returned to Kenya in 2021 where it was scrapped off the calendar in 2002.

Amazingly the event was followed by over 848 million TV viewers in 150 countries, making it one of the most watched global events this year.

According to the comments of drivers, WRC safari rally Kenya organizers scored 100 percent and drivers can’t wait to return to Naivasha.

Below are the comments from WRC top tier drivers about the event…..
Ogier: I had a love-hate relationship with the Safari Rally. I loved it. It hates my guts. Will definitely be back.

Tanak: If it’s not in the calendar next year, I will stop racing. A zebra jumped over my car during reccee and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Such beauty.

Katsuta: I am definitely coming for holiday in Kenya with my family…and not driving.

Rovanperā: Short rally. Long rally. Beautiful rally. I am still absorbing the beauty of the Safari Rally.

Fourmaux: I was tempted to stop my car and take pictures of the beautiful scenes. The colours, the people, such warmth.

Greensmith: A number 4 finish in what’s been my toughest rally ever is like a win to me. Hats off to the Kenyans, who seemed to enjoy this more than any other WRC rallies. I must come back and beat the course.

After all the positive comments and commitment, immediately the government of Kenya negotiated a deal with FIA the global Motorsport governing body to extend the deal for Kenya to host WRC till 2026.

Kenya is the only country to have hosted the world rally championship (WRC) in Africa apart from Ivory coast who lost the rights in 1994.

Is Kenya going to make it look more better and WRC safari stays for good as the President Uhuru Kenyatta put it over the weekend ?? All eyes on Kenya.
