After an outstanding performance on his international debut in the Oryx energies rally of Tanzania a fortnight ago, Issa Amwari, co-driven by Denis Mwenda, is hoping to replicate the performance in the Voi rally scheduled for this week in the Voi region.
Amwari powered his Mitsubishi Evolution x to clock a total time of 2:23:42.4 and finished 6th overall, which he says meant a lot to the team, especially for the first time rallying outside Kenya.
Issa told Hapasport that their strategy is to bring back the car as it was in the Oryx energy rally and enjoy the event without any pressure.”At the moment, we are not thinking about the championship but finishing many events as much as possible and getting our rhythm and confidence back.
I can ’t thank my sponsor enough, and my fans!! KCB has come in for us in a great way to enable us to do knrc and Arc events. The Tanzania ARC event was my first time driving outside the country and I enjoyed it!! ” Issa said,”Though at the moment nothing else is agreed for now about doing the South African events, fingers crossed,” added Issa. The rally will start and finish at the Voi Wildlife Lodge where it will cover Taita 17.39km, Hildana 27.06km and Maungu 34.50km and all stages will be done twice. The event will count as KNRC round 4.
