It’s sad and bad news for rally hunters and community after KMSF declared cancellation of KCB Machakos rally on Friday afternoon.
This came as a result after president’s speech regarding the covid 19 situation in the country at moment.
The rate at which the virus has been spreading lately has forced the government to declare a second lockdown in a year of certain towns to cut the rate at which the virus spreads.
The Kenyan capital Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Kiambu and Nakuru have been put on lockdown according to the president’s speech, transport in and out for international travels though will continue following the guidelines, while all the sporting activities are suspended.
After that declaration, the Kenyan Motorsports federation with immediate effect called off the KCB Machakos rally which had been scheduled for this Sunday, only to be done at a later date to be pronounced.
The lockdown has brought up questions on the upcoming ARC Equator rally Kenya in April whether it will be conducted, or postponed to another month.
KMSF had not made any statement regarding Equator rally. The event will count as ARC round 2 if it takes place after round 1 was done in Yamousoukro Ivory Coast in 2020.
South African Guy Botterill is the leader of the championship with 25 points collected from the first round, and the crew is set to battle in Kenya Equator rally since the car has been in transit to Naivasha Kenya for the event.
