The outside world may have not yet heard about Abdul Kateete or know little of the Ugandan jokester driver, in contrast, he’s the most famous in Uganda’s motorsport fraternity now.
Kateete is the proprietor of Shifrah Transporters and Team 444 Uganda which has motocross riders and rally drivers. With 4 rally cars in the yard, Kateete upgraded from an N10 Subaru to N14 late last year which debut in Fort-Portal rally 2019.
As a big talking man and full of jokes, fans always get attentive on rally forums and TV or radio shows where he’s hosted after every rally event, waiting for his comments in a comedy form.
When Kateete was hosted on CBS Radio last Thursday by a one Nsejjere, he battered all drivers calling them sorts of names but of cos jokingly and this is why the N14 driver is tracked down by the local motorsport fraternity.
In one of his comments he stood by Fred Busuulwa Kitaka [FBK] who is the NRC championship leader, “Fred is the most consistent Ugandan driver today and it’s not by mistake that he’s leading the championship. This is his year, if he fails to win the championship he should retire this very year simply because I am going to win 2021 championship, Kateete said on the show.
“I really wish him the best and I badly want to see him bagging the 2020 championship, Kateete added. And earlier on Ekimeeza kya Motorsport show, kateete promised to upgrade to a proto car if any of the big guns imports one.
“I can’t drive a proto now since its only one in the country [owned by Rajiv Ruparelia], I will wait not until they’re like 4 people with those proto cars and you all know money is not biggest Concern “, Katete asserted.
Kateete is now focused on the upcoming event the SMC challenge rally scheduled to take place on the first weekend of April in Greater Masaka regions.
