As Motorsport returned at the weekend of 10th in ssembabule Uganda, it was the Subaru GVB crew of Mubiru Duncan and Musa Nsubuga making statement in the scientific event to claim for their second win on the national rally championship calendar of 2020/2021.
However, the celebrations had to be frozen for 72 hours to announce the event winner, after the organizers had to collect data following reports how some drivers had infringed the 30kph regulation from two stages and drove beyond that limitation as it was being alleged.
As today on 13th April 2021, the organizers have dismissed the reports or claims and awarded the win to Mubiru Duncan, Jas Mangat and Hassan Alwi clinched the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively according to the report after investigations carried out.
Part of the report reads… FINDINGS:“The availed reports from the tracking provider revealed a lot of inconsistent, unreliable and missing information.
There were a number of drivers with trackers fixed but which the tracking company did not activate due to MTN network related issues.
The above phenomenon makes their data and information unreliable to arrive at a logical conclusion and determination of the speeds at those zones.”
CONCLUSION:“The speed zones be and have been suspended.
The final results based on above decision are hereby released.” the report adds.
By this final ruling means Mubiru Duncan beats his fierce competitor Jas Mangat with a margin if 24 seconds and Hassan Alwi with 1 minute and 48 seconds to clinch the 1st podium.
The championship table leader by the event Fred Busuulwa, only managed to finish a distant 6th to pave way for Duncan Mubiru to top the table with 190 points from three rounds.
The next round on the NRC calendar will head to western regions of Fort-Potal City later in July.
