The six-time world champion Sebastien Ogier always said his current 2020 contract would be his last in the WRC, he was looking forward to spend some quality time with family and the next stage in his career beyond the WRC, involving the all-new Extreme E series in 2021.
Ogier, who moved to the Toyota Gazoo Racing team this season from Citroen, leads the World Series after three rallies, but the continuation of the season is a mystery due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Frenchman has now been able to spend extra time with his family, albeit due to the unfortunate pandemic.
According to German Motorsport magazine Aztell , Ogier is now seriously considering continuing his career for another season, 2021.
“In fact, I thought my last season could be different,” Ogier says to the German news platform.
If the Frenchman decided to continue, that would be huge news for Tommi Makinen, the Toyota team boss. Tommi has previously stated that he would like Ogier to continue at Toyota beyond the 2020 season.
