It’s been 20 years since the World Rally Championship [WRC] last featured on the African continent and to make it a success due to its return by the decision of Fia which is the Motorsport world governing body, the Kenya Motorsport Federation [KMSF] has taken all measures to perform early preparations.

Following the visit of WRC experts from the WRC Promoter over the weekend saw Mr Phineas Kimathi the KMSF president and Jim Kahumbura joining them in putting the finishing touches on the route. Among other names who carried out the exercise was the Safari rally C.O.C Gurvir Bhabra, Anwar Sidi, Nazir Yakubu and George Mwangi. The final document is expected to be agreed upon by all parties by tomorrow Friday.
It has been reported that the reconnaissance of the route by all competitors will commence from 13th july to 15th July morning. In the afternoon of 15th July they will run the shakedown stage in Naivasha 99kms west of capital Nairobi.
The super special stage will be run at kasarani in Nairobi on 16th after the ceremonial start from KICC outside kasarani stadium as the rally runs up to Sunday of 18th July.
