Valtteri Bottas Expensive Rally Adventure with a Rented modern World Rally Car.

Must read

MercedesAMG F1 driver Valtteri Bottas was runner-up in a rational fifth in the Arctic Lapland Rally, which is still firmly called Tunturirally

It was Bottas’ first rally.

– It was a great experience. They were able to avoid big mistakes, and the pace grew all the time. At the latest next year, my next rally will be here, Bottas promised in Rovaniemi.

Everybody knows rallying is not the cheapest sport. Bottas drove a new generation of WRC car and enjoyed it a lot, but it wasn’t cheap. Renting a Ford WRC ride to Tuntur Rally (Lapland Rally) cost at least 150,000 euros from the British M-Sport. Sponsors were involved in the project.

ILTA-SANOMAT inquired about the rent of modern WRC cars from Janne Tuohino, who has purchased a Ford Fiesta WRC from M-Sport, which is managed by Malcolm Wilson. With a similar car, Bottas participated in Tunturirally.

– The car coming to our team will be ready on Wednesday and I see it for the first time on Thursday. The rental price for Tunturirally might have been somewhere around 150,000 euros. The price is affected by how many tests are run. Test kilometers are as expensive as race kilometers, Tuohino said.

The price of the Botta‘s car was increased by testing WRC-Ford on Lapland for the first time in two days, and even in the competition test test.

Tuohino drives the Swedish WRC by himself in mid-February. After that, the private yard he has set up, JanPro Racing, will start renting a game of chance to the World Rally Championships and any other rally he can participate in.

“One World Championship Rally and one test with a WRC car might cost a little over or under 200,000 euros,” Tuohino says.

– There is no one who has been locked up with any driver yet, but I believe there is demand. I can see the car in the hands of someone in the Jyväskylä World Cup.

At the national level, of course, rally can be driven much more cheaply. Serial promoter Kai Tarkiainen told Tunturirall what kind of seasonal budgets are needed for a seven-event rally SM.

– With a front-wheel drive R2 car, the SM-series will cost around € 40,000-50,000 and a four-wheel drive R5 from € 100,000. Someone said that driving a Tuntur Rally alone costs € 50,000 for a R5 car.

Respect to those drivers and teams that spend a lot to bring the party to us. Show them some love in the comments section type their Names.
