Rally expert Joao Passos from Portugal endorsed by the WRC Promoter to upskill the Ogarnizers of Safari Rally Kenya set-out a world-class WRC event inspected Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) today where the ceremonial start of the WRC Safari Rally will take place which he ticked as an ideal location to kickstart the iconic event on July 15.
However, in his remarks, he made a statement that stamps out security concerns raised by some external media houses. “For me, since I have been here I have not seen any problem where we travel around the country, we never had an issue or threat of our security,” said Passos.
Joao Passos is accompanied by his colleague Iain Campbell, the COC of Wales Rally GB who has been part of the SafariRally route preparations from the start of 2019. In their latest tour of Kenya, Today they inspected the KICC before heading to Naivasha, 90km west of capital Nairobi to see the new proposed shakedown stage and the Service Park.
The two were met by Sylvia King, a former rally driver, who sets up the ceremonial start at the venue for the last 40 years accompanied Safari senior officials led by the CEO of the Safari Rally Project Phineas Kimathi.
